Meet the IETF Secretariat

The work of the IETF community is supported by a team from Association Management Solutions (AMS), which has provided Secretariat services to the IETF since 2008. Earlier this year, Alexa Morris, who managed the IETF Secretariat since 2008, decided to step back from community-facing work and focus on other projects for the IETF at AMS. With this change, the Secretariat team reorganized itself to better serve the IETF's needs.
In her new role, Cindy Morgan oversees the Secretariat functions related to the standards process, including support for the Internet Engineering Steering Group (IESG), Internet Architecture Board (IAB), and Internet Research Task Force (IRTF). Cindy ensures that the IETF Secretariat meets its contracted Service Level Agreements as they relate to the IETF standards process, and works with the IETF Executive Director (ED) and IETF Chair to refine Secretariat support needs and operational procedures as they relate to the IETF standards process and support for leadership bodies. Cindy also acts as the Secretariat liaison to the IETF tools development process.
When she's not busy looking up technical acronyms, Cindy enjoys baking, crafts, and trying to keep her houseplants alive.
Laura Nugent initially worked with the IETF as the Director of Meetings and Events, conducting the location and venue sourcing and reporting, managing site inspections, as well as all contracting for IETF meetings and leadership retreats. In her new role, Laura continues to lead IETF sourcing and contracting, while taking on a number of new responsibilities. Laura oversees the IETF administrative functions handled by the Secretariat; specifically, Laura ensures that the Secretariat meets its contractual obligations as they relate to the IETF Administration and meeting contracts, collaborates with the IETF Chair and IETF Executive Director to refine Secretariat support, develops general administrative policies and procedures, works with IETF legal counsel to address contractual issues, responds to requests for Internet-Draft (I-D) authentication and subpoenas, and prepares, compiles and signs all I-D legal declarations. Laura also participates in the development of initiatives to improve IETF culture and oversees staff support of these programs, including Systers, the New Participant program, and the Education and Outreach Directorate (eodir). Related activities include managing support for the annual Applied Networking Research Workshop (ANRW) and Travel Grant program, serving on the ANRW Steering Committee.
Laura also manages a separate contract to provide secretariat services to the IETF Trust/ IETF Intellectual Property Management Corporation (IETF IPMC).
Laura enjoys spending time with her family and friends, swimming, yoga, and good detective stories.
In Stephanie McCammon’s new role, she continues to manage the meeting planning team and oversee all post-contract meeting planning, while thinking creatively about improvements to IETF meetings. She closely collaborates with the IETF Chair, IETF ED and IETF Administration LLC Operations team to refine Secretariat meeting support, address issues, and obtain guidance as it relates to meeting operations and sponsorship. She also manages the sponsorship program by engaging with new and existing sponsors, developing and promoting sponsorship opportunities, and overseeing the fulfillment of sponsor benefits.
In her free time she loves hiking with her many dogs, pottery, sunshine, and adventuring with her husband.
